Our Privacy Commitment

The Six Data Protection Principles We Uphold

Not just a document — this is how we operate every day to protect your information.

End-to-End Encryption

All data transmitted between your device and cuci servers is protected by 128-bit SSL encryption — the same standard used by major banks in Malaysia.

Your Data, Your Rights

You have the right to view, update, or request deletion of your personal data at any time. Contact the Cuci team and we will process your request within 14 working days.

No Data Selling

Cuci does not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party for marketing purposes. Your data is not our product.

Secure Data Storage

Data is stored on servers protected by multi-layered firewalls, role-based access controls, and regular independent security audits.

Data Minimisation Principle

We only collect data that is strictly necessary for platform operations. Irrelevant information is not collected or stored in our systems.

Proactive Incident Notification

In the event of a security incident involving your data, cuci will notify you within 72 hours and take immediate remedial action.

Important Note: This Privacy Policy transparently describes our practices. By using the Cuci platform, you agree to the collection and use of data as described in this document. This document should be read together with Terms & Conditions us.

1. Introduction

The cuci platform operates in accordance with internationally recognised data protection standards. We comply with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA) and the data protection requirements set by relevant regulatory bodies.

If you have any questions about how we handle your data that are not addressed in this document, our support team is available via 24-hour live chat or through the support email listed at the end of this document.

3. Purpose of Personal Data Use

Cuci uses your personal data solely for legitimate, disclosed purposes. We do not use your data for any other purpose without obtaining fresh consent from you. The primary purposes for data use are as follows:

  • Account Management: Create, verify, and manage your account, including the KYC process required to comply with anti-money laundering (AML) requirements.
  • Transaction Processing: Process deposits, withdrawals, and all financial transactions in your account securely and accurately.
  • Platform Security: Detect and prevent fraud, account breaches, multiple account usage, and activities that violate the terms of service.
  • Service Improvement: Analyse usage patterns to improve platform design, speed, and overall user experience.
  • Service Communications: Send important account-related notifications such as transaction confirmations, security updates, and policy changes.
  • Legal Compliance: Meet reporting and record-keeping requirements mandated by applicable laws and regulatory bodies.
  • Marketing Communications (with consent): Send promotional information, bonuses, and special offers — only if you have given your consent, which can be withdrawn at any time.

4. Data Sharing with Third Parties

Cuci does not sell your personal data. We share data only in limited, necessary situations:

  • Payment Provider: Required financial information is shared with payment service providers (DuitNow, FPX, TNG eWallet, Boost, GrabPay) solely for the purpose of processing your transactions.
  • Game Provider: Minimum technical data is shared with third-party game providers to enable access to games available on the platform.
  • KYC Service Provider: Identity verification documents are shared with appointed KYC service providers to verify the authenticity of your documents.
  • Authority: Cuci will disclose data to law enforcement or regulatory bodies when required by law or a valid court order.

All cuci third-party partners are required to comply with privacy and data security policies that meet or exceed our own standards. They are only permitted to use your data for specific and limited purposes.

Cuci never shares your data with advertising companies, social media platforms, or any party for third-party marketing purposes without your explicit consent.

5. Data Security

Cuci continually invests in security infrastructure to ensure your personal data is protected to the highest standard. The key security measures we implement are as follows:

  • Data in Transit Encryption: All communications between your device and cuci servers are secured by TLS 1.3 protocol with 128-bit encryption.
  • Stored Data Encryption: Sensitive data such as IC numbers and banking information is stored in encrypted form in our database.
  • Integrated Access Control: Access to member personal data within Cuci's internal systems is restricted to staff who require it to perform their duties, based on the principle of least privilege.
  • Regular Security Audits: Cuci conducts penetration testing and independent security audits at least twice a year.
  • 24/7 Monitoring: An automated monitoring system operates around the clock to detect any suspicious activity or unauthorised access attempts.

6. Data Retention Period

Cuci does not retain your personal data for longer than necessary. Below are our general data retention guidelines:

  • Active Account Data: Retained for as long as your account is active and for the period required to meet legal obligations following account closure (typically 7 years based on financial record-keeping requirements).
  • Transaction Records: Retained for a minimum of 7 years after each transaction in accordance with anti-money laundering and tax law requirements.
  • KYC Documents: Retained for the duration of the active account period plus 5 years after account closure.
  • Technical Logs: Retained for 90 days and then automatically deleted unless required for an ongoing investigation.
  • Support Communications: Conversation records with the support team are retained for 2 years.

Once the retention period expires, data is securely deleted using non-recoverable deletion methods, or anonymised if the data is still needed for internal statistical purposes.

Frequently Asked Questions About cuci Privacy

Yes, you have the right to request data deletion. However, please note that some data cannot be deleted immediately due to legal obligations — for example, financial transaction records that must be retained for 7 years under anti-money laundering and tax laws. Once those legal obligations expire, the data will be permanently deleted. Contact the cuci support team to initiate a deletion request and we will explain in detail which data can be deleted immediately and which must be retained for a specified period.

Yes. The cuci mobile app uses the same encryption as the web version — all communications are protected by TLS 1.3. In addition, the cuci app uses secure storage for local data on your device, meaning sensitive information is not stored in a readable format accessible to other apps. Biometric login (fingerprint/Face ID) adds an extra layer of security. cuci also encrypts any data cached locally within the app to prevent unauthorised access in the event your phone is lost or stolen.

The KYC (Know Your Customer) process is an international standard requirement in the financial industry and licensed gambling platforms. Its primary purposes are: (1) to ensure only individuals aged 18 and above can access the platform, (2) to prevent money laundering by verifying the true identity of account holders, and (3) to protect you from identity misuse by third parties. Your KYC documents are stored in an encrypted system and only accessed by authorised personnel for verification purposes.

There are two easy ways to stop receiving marketing communications: (1) Click the "Unsubscribe" link found at the bottom of any marketing email we send — changes will take effect within 48 hours. (2) Log in to your cuci account, go to Settings → Notifications, and turn off "Promotional Emails" or "Promotional Push Notifications". Please note that opting out of marketing does not affect your receipt of important account-related emails such as transaction confirmations or security notifications.
